Lose 100 Pounds Today - A Message from my Oklahoma Pastor

(Hebrews 12:1)

The battle of the bulge...This is how some refer to the struggle with weight. It seems that for every pound we loose, we gain two more....It is a constant struggle for many people.

There are those who do not look as if they need to loose weight but they have a lack of self confidence and it causes them to diet, and even causes some to battle with eating disorders.
We are a society that pushes fitness, and if some do not fit in this mold they are body shamed.  But then we see companies advertise great foods, buffets, and plenty of sweets, it is an endless cycle of good eats, right eats, fitness and be happy with who you are...Exercise, eat, repeat!

We want to blame the candy, the soda, the rich food for the weight problem, we want to blame our parents, our genetics for the constant weight battle.  But when it is all said and done, it comes down to us, our will power, and the life choices we make.

Unfortunately we have many obese Christians today, they are weighed  down with their past, with the generational curses, and struggle with the lack of spiritual will power.  They carry around the pain of their lives, they feast upon the negative, and they hunger after the worlds pleasures.

Like wanting a piece of chocolate cake to satisfy their sweet tooth, many indulge their flesh with temptation, guilt, poverty, and sorrow.   We also have those who do not see themselves as God sees them. They see only their failure, their lack, and it causes them to have a spiritual disorder.  But that is not how it should be! You do not have to be like that!

You can loose a hundreds of pounds of unwanted weight today! God does not want you to be weighed down with your past, with the failure of today or the pain of sickness.  You can be free of the excessive weight that is holding your back from being a strong, anointed, powerful, free and prosperous child of God.

Go on a spiritual diet today, start eating the good things of God, "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good"  Eat from the vine of hope, drink the power drink of heaven, and exercise your right to use the anointing of heaven to overcome, to be free, to be healthy, to get wealth, and to bring salvations hope to others.

You can do it!  let go of the heaviness of what others have done to you, let go of the heaviness of the past, work out and get rid of that weight you gained.  It is has hindered your breathing, and caused you to become slack in your faith. When you get rid of it you will feel great again, and bring a new joy into your spirit, strength into your finances, and energy into your life!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us downespecially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Hebrews 12:1)

But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest when I have preached to others I myself should become disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:27

This verse is not specifically about losing weight but good principles can be taken from it. Weight loss can not be reached without discipline.
What it takes to lose weight. I remind myself of these all the time.
1. Set a goal - make it small, many small goals add up to big weight loss.
2. Create a workable plan towards your goal - Be reasonable and know what you can and can't do. Don't set yourself up for failure.
3.  Track your progress and stay on track - Either weigh once a week or take your body measurements or both.  There is no right or wrong way to track your progress so find what works for you.
4. Discipline your mind - Make up your mind that you are going to do it this time. Don't put a fat picture on your fridge of yourself but put a skinny picture on it. Then you have something to look at and that will keep your mind disciplined to lose the weight. (If you don't have a skinny picture of yourself, find a picture of someone else that is skinny, cut off their head and glue your face onto their picture) This works!!
If you do that, you will be shedding the pounds in no time.

I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:5 KJV

As I read this scripture this morning I realized that this applies to all aspects of my life.
'For without me ye can do nothing.'
NOTHING. That is so true. When I look at the successes in my life, I can see that those were the times that I asked God for help. Why is it that we ask Him to help us with finances, family problems, during times of sorrow and just about every other aspect of our life but when it comes to our weight we leave the Lord out of the process?
Friends, we have to ask God to help us with our health, too. Oh I'm not talking about when we are sick. That's important, too but I'm talking about our everyday health. Losing weight is about getting healthy so that we can press on to do what the Lord has set out for us. The sooner we learn this, the better off we will be.
Now, if you are thinking, well that's fine for you Rhonda but I don't think God cares about my weight. Think again. The Lord wants to be in every part of our lives. He created us to share everything with him. Our weight and health are very important to Him and He wants us to ask for His help to get back into shape and bring our bodies to the full healthiness it was meant to be in.
ASK FOR HELP! Make it a habit. Every day during your quiet time, talk to the Lord about your weight, your health and your desires to be thin again. It's not a sin to want to look good. We were created in the image of God, I don't believe God is ugly, fat or unfit. So go ahead. ASK FOR HELP!
I think you'll be surprised at how much easier it will be to fight this battle... and win.

The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Psalm 34:17
There have been many times that I have cried out to God for help with this weight loss struggle that I go through. I lose three pounds; gain back two and it makes me want to quit! I want to stop fighting the battle of the bulge and give up. But, instead I cry to God for help.
Usually this happens at the end of the day, after a day of binging or feeling sorry for myself and I binge and feel sorry for myself after I've weighed in the morning and discover I've gained weight. Why do I do this? Why don't I call out to Him sooner? I don't know, this is just how it has been for me.
But, every time God hears me and the next morning I wake up ready to fight again. You see He never gives up on me, even after I've given up on myself. He gives me strength to keep pressing on and He will do the same for you.
Don't give up, call out to God for help. It works for me. It will work for you, too.
God Bless and Happy Weight Loss All

The Best Diet

"For one believeth that he may eat all things; another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not;
and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him."
Romans 14:2-3 KJV
As I read this, I thought... what?
Paul was writing to the Christians in Rome. This was after Christ's death & resurrection, because of Christ's dying, the laws changed. So the people were unclear as to which foods they could and couldn't eat. When he calls them weak, he isn't talking about because of their food choices they were weak but saying they were weak in their faith.
So, I asked myself: How does this passage effect my eating? That led to what is the best foods for me to eat? or the best diet for me to chose?
These are age old questions. According to the scripture, I believe that the best diet is the one that works for me. There is no diet that fits everyone. People who are vegetarians believe that eating veggies only is the best diet. People who are doing Atkins believe meat and veggies is the best for them. Please understand that Vegetarians and Atkins followers don't just eat what I've listed, there is more to each program than I am listing here. My point is, the reason these people are excited about their eating choices is because they work for them.
Have you found what works for you?
If not, ask the Lord to reveal the diet that works best for you and your body.

Learn To Listen

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalms 32:8
Learning to listen to God is a big part of our journey.  How many different diets have we done? How many exercise programs have we started and then stopped? If you are like me, too many to count of both.
Over the last few days, I have purposely been making the effort to listen to that inner voice, the Holy Spirit, to guide me. He's that silent voice in my mind that says, "Do you really need to eat that?" or asks, "Are you really hungry?" He also says stuff like: "You could use this extra ten minutes to walk." Or, "Why don't you do a couple of stretches during this commercial?"
I believe that is the Lord trying to instruct and teach you how to live healthier. With God's guidance, you can't go wrong. God always has your best interest at heart and He wants to be apart of everything you do, say, and eat. Isn't that wonderful!?
I truly believe if I heed the words of Psalms 32:8 and lean on the Lord to direct me in this adventure of weight loss, I can't go wrong. Common sense tells me that God will not advise me to over eat or hurt myself by doing too much exercise.
I love that this scripture says, "I will guide thee with mine eye." That's a gentle reminder to me that God knows what is before me and if I'll listen to him, I will reach my weight loss goals.
Have you heard/thought the same questions? Will you trust the Lord to instruct and teach you how to eat and live a healthy life?

Using Wisdom

"But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition;
but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."
Hebrews 10:39 KJV
Lately I've been struggling with my weight, dieting and trusting that God has my back. I've been ashamed of this and so haven't posted here. For not posting and not trusting in God to help me, I am truly sorry.
Have you ever teamed up with other people to lose weight and then find that they are always breaking their diet or eating large amounts of food even though they are suppose to be working with you to lose weight and get healthy?
I have. And when they start cheating for some reason they encourage me to do the same. This is not healthy. This is them wanting to justify why they are eating what they are eating or not exercising or whatever it is that they have agreed to do with me and if they can get me to join them, then they don't feel so bad about what they've done or not done.
Now, I'm not saying it's my friends fault. It's mine! God gave me a mind and freedom of choice. And He's done the same for you.
Today I am coming back to the blog. I am using wisdom in who I tell I am working on my weight. I am using wisdom in who I partner with to join me in this journey. You can too. We do not have to be ashamed of being persuaded by others to give up.
But the biggest decisions I am making is to trust that God has my back and not to allow others to convince me otherwise.
Please join me in these decisions. God has your back, too and together with God,
you, and me can become healthier.
Who's with me?
